The trigger of this adventure
“If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try!“
I got selected to speak at “Targeting Quality” Conference in Cambridge Ontario in September’19. And I made my plans to go there since it was my dream coming true to speak at international conferences, it was my first time ever giving an English Talk abroad! I was all set to embark on my solo trip adventure …
Before traveling to any country I use to do some research about best places to visit, attractions to not miss, …, when typing “Toronto” I find the “EdgeWalk” which is CN Tower’s most thrilling attraction in its history, and the first of its kind in North America. It is the world’s highest full circle hands-free walk on a 5 ft (1.5 m) wide ledge encircling the top of the Tower’s main pod, 356m/1168ft (116 storeys) above the ground.
Just reading about the “Edge Walk” excited me to the core !! I was willing to take it ON and no matter what it costs it’s once in a lifetime although I used to optimize my spending 🙂
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.
Day of the adventure
With no hesitation, I booked my slot on 27 September 19. An Edge Walk takes around 90 minutes. They made me read a long list of instructions and policies before I signed up.
It costed me $225 + $25 for pictures. Yes, the cost of walking around outside on a tiny ledge of the famous Toronto tower is expensive but extremely worthy !

At the beginning I was a bit scared seeing buildings from the top, felt like I will fall down when touching the edge, but I carefully managed that. I boost my morale and confidence up, I take that RISK and I start enjoying life on the EDGE ! It was extremely challenging to open your hands on the air and hold this new attraction 🙂 🙂
I ended up walking on the edge of the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.
What doesn’t challenge you doesn’t change you
You can easily talk yourself out of taking that risk in your personal or business life. All you need to do is have the courage to break the mold. You need to step out of your comfort zone because eventually, that zone will not let you grow.
Change your internal dialogue, get in that uncomfortable place, embrace some changes in your life, do Great and Exciting things, it can make you a better person with a better mindset.
I will let the pictures tell the rest of the adventure of my stay up there.
It was simply the best thing about my 2019 being able to walk on the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere at the CN Tower. It made me believe tremendously in myself and even if I set my mind to something. I will overcome any mental barrier and achieve whatever goal I set out to!
You have to remove all barriers and push yourself way beyond your limits to achieve memorable experience.
Say YES to new adventures !
I encourage everyone to take adventures in his life (personal or professional one) and try new things, it has lots of unexpected advantages:
- It makes your time more memorable.
- It grows your sens of adventure while fear takes a backseat.
- It makes you realize how strong you are and you’ll get to know yourself better.
- It helps you develop new skills, your creativity and brainpower will be stimulated.
- It helps you view the world more pragmatically.
Blog Idea and link with “Software Testing”
I wrote this blog for many reasons:
- I always wanted to blog about my experience walking on the edge done last September !
- In my previous blog post I compared “testing to traveling“, but I want to give more examples!
- As part of Bloggers Club on the Ministry of Testing. There are regular challenges that aim to share community thoughts. This month, the challenge is to share the personal perspective about “Risk is …”
It’s an occasion to talk about the advantage of taking risks whether in real life or while exploring the software.
Taking such adventure is like exploring the application you are testing, walking on the edge is like testing your own boundaries and develop new skills. In fact lots of application errors occur at the boundaries of the input domain. ‘Boundary Value Analysis’ Testing technique is used to identify errors at boundaries rather than finding those that exist in the center of the input domain.
I challenge you to find a common stories between RISK and anything else you that could be related.
